Welcome to the Outlier programme, our way of thinking and collective community. The intention of this fitness programme is to offer autonomy to you, within a community of like minded people looking to improve their fitness in general or for better enjoying the oceans and mountains in their chosen sports. The onus is to get you engaged in the experience of fitness and to enhance your resilience in both body and mind to keep you performing at your best long into the future.

We want to help build practical and resilient athletes, expanding longevity in performance by utilising our experience of tried and tested exercise methods and functional fitness to get the most from your efforts.

The Outlier Programme provides an opportunity for you to train in a progressive way within the workouts themselves and gives you the opportunity to learn and understand the training principles that might interest you the most.

The training is split across multiple fitness domains, training formats and energy systems to target the whole body and physiology, building over all fitness. This general physical preparedness (GPP) approach combined with directed sports specific training gives the greatest crossover to all lifestyle needs and sporting pursuits from ocean to mountain, as well as looking your best in the mirror.

The equipment requirement is varied from stripped back body weight calisthenics training, to the simplicity of a pair of dumbbells or kettlebells. There are more extensive barbell and cardio machines options such as rowers, ski ergs and bikes you might find in a commercial gym set up. You can pick and choose from the weekly drop of blackboard workouts or search through the history of sessions in the archive.

The open choice of workouts is not there for you to remove, skip or dodge the exercises you do not enjoy, but to explore and pick out what is necessary to build wellness and fitness that’s true to you and offers the balance and performance you desire. An opportunity to build a more bespoke training protocol with tried and tested workouts laid out by us.

This learned knowledge and accountability for what you are doing and why you are doing it is as important as the effort and consistency of the training itself. So we hope to share with you the skills to use, along with your intuition to make the most of your training with our guidance to promote a positive physical culture around the activities you pursue and taking your training investments to the great outdoors.

This project and training programme will evolve over time and will be influenced by all that engage and contribute, so feel free to comment, connect and explore with what’s on offer. We’d also like to engage in your chosen activities through shared photos, features and even editorials for the journal. The community engagement is a big part of the project and helps create the lasting effect and connections people have, making it a more human experience.

This membership offers 3 weekly live training sessions via zoom, weekly blackboard workouts, a community chat and a monthly zoom meet with guest speaker or topic, an evolving number of articles, a growing number of follow along workout videos and a descriptive exercise library.
